The BCCWID Board Of Directors are unpaid and serve as volunteers for the District. Board members are either elected or appointed depending on the situation. The current members of the Black Canyon City Water Improvement District were all elected in a Secial District election held on Nov. 5 of 2024, and were officially seated on the Board in early Jan. 2025. There are currently two vancant Board seats due to resignations of the previous Board Chair and Vice-Chair in November 2024. Here are some of the Basics of What Board Members Do:
- Represent Owner/Users interests in the BCCWID.
- Assure provision of quality water for the Owners/Users in accordance with governmental requirements.
- Act as Fiduciaries for the BCCWID Owner/Users.
- Implement policies and procedures to safeguard the BCCWID.
- Budget for the daily operation and maintenance of the BCCWID water delivery system.
- Plan and budget a portion of revenues for long-term capital improvements.
- Schedule and attend monthly public meetings to discuss and report all aspects of the business, including financial, operations, safety issues, and the results of testing/sampling.
- Make themselves available to answer questions, address Owner/User concerns, and accept their input.
*** The newly elected Board is currently working to create, adopt, and implement official bylaws for the Districts Governing Board. This District was established over 40 years ago, and only has an outdated Policy & Procedures Manual in place for guidance. Official bylaws, will clearly define the roles, responsibilities, and duties of the volunteer Board members so that there is no ambiguity moving forward. This in turn will greatly improve transparency and accountability to the Owner/Users of the District. This is a work in progress and we'll do our best to keep the Owner/Users updated. Of course the best way to stay updated is to attend the meetings, and we strongly encourage Owner/Users to attend.
