BCCWID Now At Drought Emergency Level 4
Here you'll find the latest information on Drought Contingency plans for the Black Canyon City Water Improvement District community. Unfortunately the BCCWID has never had any official ordinance or policy in place to deal with drought. This is being addressed by the current Board of Directors. Being desert dwellers, we should always do our part to conserve water even in the best of times. We strongly encourage everyone to make conserving water a Lifestyle. Here are some good Conservation Tips
The BCCWID Drought Contingency Plan starts on page 6 of the "Community Water System SYSTEM WATER PLAN" which is filed by the BCCWID System Operator with the Arizona Depeartment of Water Resources - ADEQ. This report is a good resource for lots of other valuable information about our community water system.
BCCWID is currently: Drought Stage Level 4, with static water levels at all 3 well sites having dropped on average apprx. 5' - 10' from where they were about 6 months ago. This strongly indicates that the Black Canyon City aquafer that we are getting our water from is continuing to decrease and is not showing signs of improved aquafer recharge.
Stage 0 - Water levels stable within the six wells
Stage 1 - Noticeable drop in water level in wells.
Stage 2 - Continuation of water level dropping over an extended period of time. (At this stage the District may implement mandatory management measures).
Stage 3 - Water levels continue to drop over 30 days after reaching stage 2.
Stage 4 - Water level drops below 35 feet in the wells.
